“John Carpenters Tales of Science Fiction: Redhead #1” – Comic Review

Marnie Young, an executive assistant in San Diego, is a sweet girl who wouldn’t hurt a fly. She’s also super lonely. But one night, without warning, Marnie has a violent seizure; co-workers recoil in horror as she writhes on the floor. Two days later, Marnie wakes up in a hospital room. As her vision comes into focus, she sees 17 doctors and nurses dead on the floor, blood splattered everywhere. Soon she discovers the shocking truth: Marnie has become lethal, and everyone who comes within three feet of her dies instantly! Which is really going to mess up her dating life (if she had one). Is there a cure? Can anyone get close enough to find out?

Duane is on a role it seems with stories coming from Storm King Comics as of late, and I don’t think the train he’s on is stopping anytime soon. Redhead is just a perfect mix with horror and sci-fi all in one bundled up little person.

Marnie, who right now is believing what the current or past events at the time is nothing more than a nightmare. But, how she is very wrong indeed. Scientists and Lab Escorts can’t even begin to contain the situation nor Quarantine the area fast enough for the evolving situation.

This nice little 32 page or so comic is well paced, fantastic looking artwork by Jason with a story from Duane that any Sci-Fi / Horror lover would soak in the pages in, and once over they’ll have to wait til December to get their hands on the next issue of Redhead.

Jason outdid himself with the artwork, it really looks like he took photographs and turned them into art. The story of how it acts like a end of a movie or TV series which then brings us back in time to lead us right up to that point we originally began at.

“Don’t Get Close, Unless You Don’t Savior Your Life.”
